On-screen messages
Every message the camera shows, and what to do about it.
The app sends us nothing by itself, so we only know what you tell us. Please don't send clips unless we ask, and never send passwords or personal documents.
Quick fixes
The screen says CAMERA ACCESS
The app can't see without the camera. Tap OPEN SETTINGS and switch on Camera for the app, then come back.
There is no sound from my voice
Check the SOUND mini-button. SILENT keeps only the background of the medium, and in the 2010s to 2030s it is true silence. Choose PERIOD or ORIGINAL. If the microphone is switched off for the app in the iOS Settings app, there is no voice in any mode, and no VU meter while recording.
REC doesn't record any more
If the counter reads TAPE FULL, the take has reached 3:00 or the phone is low on space. Press DONE to develop the take, or DISCARD. To free space, see MENU › SYSTEM › STORAGE.
SAVE says "Photo library access denied"
Open the iOS Settings app, find the app, then Photos, and allow adding photos. Then tap SAVE again.
The date on my picture is wrong
The camera's clock may have been set by hand. Open MENU › LOOK › CLOCK and tap LIVE to follow the phone's clock again. More in the FAQ.
Siri opens the app but doesn't shoot
Siri can start a capture only when the phone is unlocked and the camera and microphone are already allowed. Name the decade by its year, for example "record a 1990 clip with Time Travel Camera". More in the FAQ.
A clip shows RAW, or there are RECOVERED TAKES
A take interrupted by a call or by leaving the app is kept but not developed yet. It develops when you come back; if it fails, tap the message to retry. Takes left over from an interrupted DONE wait at the top of the LIBRARY: tap REJOIN to develop them.
The FORMAT button is grey
FORMAT is for video. In STILL the photo takes its shape from the STYLE. It is also locked while a take is open.
The app runs slowly
The app is designed for iPhone 12 or newer. On older iPhones ABOUT shows "Performance is not guaranteed on this iPhone." Closing other apps can help.
