Privacy policy

The short version: the app collects nothing and talks to no server. What you shoot stays on your iPhone until you decide to save or share it.

The app collects no data

The Time Travel Camera has no account, no sign-up and no login. It contains no network code: it doesn't connect to any server, ours or anyone else's, so it works the same in airplane mode. There are no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no third-party SDKs. The app's privacy manifest declares no tracking and no collected data types.

We never receive your photos, videos, audio, location or anything else, because nothing is ever sent to us.

What stays on your iPhone

  • Your clips and photos are stored inside the app on your iPhone, in the LIBRARY, until you delete them. MENU › SYSTEM › STORAGE shows how much space they use and lets you clear them.
  • Your settings, such as the date format, the camera clock, SOUND and SPEAKER FX, are stored on your iPhone too.
  • Music you add in the editor is copied into the app so the edit can use it, and stays on your iPhone.

If you delete the app, iOS deletes all of this with it. Like other app data, it can be included in your own iPhone backups, which are governed by your backup settings with Apple.

Permissions, and what each one is for

  • Camera: to shoot your videos and photos. Asked on the SET UP page the first time you open the app. The app can't work without it.
  • Microphone: to record the sound of your videos. Asked on the same page. It is optional: you can shoot without it. Siri and Shortcuts capture needs it.
  • Photos, add only: to save a clip or photo to your photo library when you tap SAVE. Asked the first time you do. The app asks only to add, never to read your library.

When you use IMPORT, the app uses the iOS photo picker. The picker hands the app only the one video you choose; the app can't see the rest of your library, and the original is never changed. When you add music in the editor, the iOS file picker likewise gives the app only the file you choose.

You can change any permission at any time in the iOS Settings app, under the app's name.

Sharing

When you tap SHARE, the app hands the file to the iOS share sheet, and you choose where it goes. From that point the file is handled by the app or service you picked, under its own policy. Every video that leaves the app carries the 2-second end card, and may carry the decade signature, which shows the name of the app. Neither contains any personal information or tracking.

Siri and Shortcuts

If you ask Siri to record a clip or take a photo, Siri works out the request under Apple's own privacy terms and passes the app only the decade you asked for. The app does nothing more with it than open the camera on that decade.

Apple's diagnostics

If you have chosen in the iOS settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may share anonymous crash reports and usage statistics about the app with us. That is controlled by you, through Apple, and the app adds nothing of its own.

This website

This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts. It loads no fonts, scripts or images from other companies. Like any website, the service that hosts these pages may keep standard technical logs of requests, such as IP addresses, to run and protect the service.

The app collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
